[ A grin back as he follows after. He can't help but look around though, giving an appreciative whistle at the architecture and cleanliness of it all. Dammit, why does everyone get a cooler temple than he does? At least this place looks respectable and stately! He's stuck with a haunted dump of a plantation manor.
But back to the matter at hand. ]
More'n alright! It's been a while since I had anything decent, really. Starting to think I've forgotten what home food tastes like.
Well, you'll be able to remember, now. [ He head him into the kitchen, where the delicious smell increased tenfold. He gestured to a table, which was already romantically set up for the two of them. He had fed Jade earlier in order to keep his shinki out of his hair, so the meal was made for just the two of them. ] Have a seat. There's plenty of food so you can eat as much as you'd like.
What would you like to drink? I don't really have much, except for green tea, water... mm, some juice and milk... [ He tapped his chin as he thought. ]
[ How Wata can go from 0 to 60 then down to 0 and back to 60 in a breath will always always be a fascination to this reaper. He listens, like a good listener should, his head never leaving his hand save for the tiny nod at the water.
And then he waits a little more just to make sure it's aaaaaaaaaaaaaall out before speaking. ]
S'far as I'm concerned, you're none of that. Least from what I've seen.
[ And leaning forward slightly. ]
Though what I need right now, I wager, is context. Let's start from the beginning, shall we? Who've you managed to tick off and why?
[ Watanuki had turned around after taking the plates, dishing out the cottage pie onto them. The thick, cream potatoes, beef, corn, peas, and cheese fluffed onto the plate. Watanuki walked over, setting it down in front for Ron. He sat down as well, letting out a sigh. ]
There's a shinki named Zero-san, [ He started. ] He's... a rogue shinki. He doesn't have any contact with his god, so he just... I have no idea what he does all day. [ A small shrug. ]
But he recently texted for the bulletin to see, asking if shinki got sick. Which, to be honest, I don't know if they do.
[ A pause, a frown. Zero... zero.... racking his brain because he never forgets a face. Silver hair... THEN IT HITS HIM. ]
Zero! Yeah, I remember him! Bumped into him before I bumped into you that afternoon when I was soliciting company for tea. Bit of a surly lad, if I recall... but what's this got to do with your suddenly being insensitive and whatnot?
[ A pause though because the food is promising. He does take a bite and it makes him pause. There's almost a sigh of relief there, a long breath before he can finally speak again. It's been too long. Way too long. Because it's good. Really good. ]
Did anyone tell you you're a ruddy genius in the kitchen, by the by?
Oh... [ And he had the humility to flush. ] Thank you. Cooking is a hobby of mine... I really enjoy cooking for other people.
As for Zero... [ And he let out a faint sigh. ] I didn't know what was wrong, but as he started describing something I just... had a feeling. So I asked him to meet up with me, and I used my powers to help him. Wheen I touch someone... I can see things like their past, or things they've come in contact with... things like that. Or just weird visions and such.
So I touched him, and I found out that he wasn;t sick, he was... [ He trailed off. It wasn't really his place to talk about what he saw. ] ...And, you know how it is. I can't tell him these things... something... holds me back. That same thing that makes it so I can't tell my own shinki about their past.
And he yelled at me. He said it wasn't my place to hold information from him. That I didn't understand how he felt, that I was basically a horrible person. [ His expression was slowly sinking into sadness. ] It's not that I didn't want to tell him... I just... couldn't. I couldn't.
Don't put it that way or you'll never be rid of me.
[ He can't help but chuckle a little. A home cooked meal is always welcome, after all. Especially when you can barely cook anything that involves more than tossing it in hot oil. But he listens in silence after that, pausing on occasion to take another forkful of food. It takes him about half his plate to finally find the right words. ]
You did right by him, if you ask me. S'not like you could! He'd end up in more trouble if you did if whatever happened to that Axel bloke was anything to go by.
[ A sigh as he sets his fork down to reach over and place his hand over Watanuki's because gdit man. He hates seeing his friends sad. ]
Don't let this eat you up, sweetheart. Wasn't like you were trying to hold it back to lord it over his head or summat. S'not our place to tell them, after all.
I was able to find out why he was sick and help him... [ He murmured, and his hung his head a little. Ron's hand over his was comforting. ] ...But I couldn't tell him why. It was... frustrating.
[ He glanced up to him. ]
Thanks...
Your words... mean a lot right now. My shiki isn't used to dealing with emotions... and I probably upset him because I started to cry...
There's prolly more to this god malarkey than we thought...
[ All this sudden responsibility. It's too much for a young reaper whose afterlife was just focused on the 9-to-5 and after work partying sometimes. He does offer a sympathetic smile, gripping the other's hand a bit tighter before retracting it. Again, one more reason to miss having two. Multitasking with only one is a bitch sometimes. ]
Did say I wasn't going to leave you in the dark, didn't I? Always did fancy myself a ruddy good listener to whoever needed it. 'Sides... crying doesn't suit you much if you ask me.
[ He can't help but snicker as he takes another forkful. When was the last time he actually hung out with someone who wasn't connected to Yuki? He doesn't know. But as far as he's concerned... he's enjoying himself, all things considered. ]
It'd be awful rude to pass up a meal, sweetheart. 'Specially one as good as this.
You're such a flirt. Are all westerners like this? [ Was this a cultural thing? Was Ron just forward? Did he just have 'Yellow Fever'? So many questions and no answers. ]
You know, me boss used to say the same thing when I spent too much time with the secretarial pool.
[ Answer: it's just him. ]
'Stop planning your after hour parties on company time, mister Knox' or 'get back to work, you sodding skirtchaser or it'll be a paycut' if he was feeling particularly rancid that day.

Water's fine, sweetheart. M'not picky.
[ Resting his head on his hand though, watching the other a moment with a thoughtful hum. ]
S'just the two of us then? Just as well. You sounded like you've been in a bit of a tizzy yourself.
no subject
Tizzy? Tizzy? I am in more than just a tizzy! What a frivolous sounding word for how I'm feeling!
I'M NOT AN AWFUL PERSON, AM I?!
no subject
Blimey, no! If you were awful, d'you think I would've enjoyed my time with you enough to fancy more of it?
